Literature Text

I remember the smell of rain
When you had to leave me
Your cold blue eyes staring
At my shattered spirit
I called to you;
I ran towards you.
My face was a mess
The girl you once loved was washed away
You took her from me and laughed.
I cried and sat in the clear rain
I am defeated.

You turned and walked away
Took a piece of my bleeding heart
And dropped it on the ground
It laid there like something no one would ever want to touch
Should it fade away?
You turn and forget
I wallow in self-pity
You don't care.
It becomes a figment of your imagination.
So you turn, walking away.
"You drop it on the ground"
Without even noticing, even caring
That half of yours was there
They were one and the same
We were one and the same
A whole.

But you trampled on it with her
I couldn't pick it off the ground
For it washed away
Down the gutter where you should be
I'd pull you up
Back to me
But you don't need me anymore
I'm just like the rain
It washes off of you
It's fun...
For a while.
But I remember the tear drops
Mixing in with the rain
The chilling day you left
I, frozen in place.
I remember the smell
The exact, distinct smell when you walked
You walked hand in hand
Leaving me to smell the rain.
i wrote this poem a long time ago i hope you like
